Dallas Soy Candles

I am often asked why "Soy Candles."  Why not?  Soy Candles are better for the environment and I love to burn candles.  Also, soy candles are eco-friendly and better for the environment.  My name is Edith Fikes and I own Dallas Soy Candles.  A few years ago I found I was no longer happy in my current career and I was starving to be able to utilize my creativity skills that had been strangled for years.  I took a leap a faith and  walked away from a successful career and well paying job to venture out on my own into the unknown.

Back in the beginning of 2010, I began researching and learning everything I could about soy candles from fellow candle-makers, the internet, and vendor suppliers.  You could say I "picked" their brain to educate myself.  The testing of my candles began and has never stopped.  By the summer, the company and website was launched and it has been full speed ahead since.  Not to say that there has not been
bumps in the road.  There have been and that is how we learn to always improve.  Soy candles are "tempermental."  That is the only way I can describe soy.  Making soy candles is a bit like making divinity.  The environmental conditions have to be just right.  That is why a number of soy candle makers are using a "soy blend."  A soy blend can be a combination of any kind of wax along with soy. It can be paraffin, palm, or beeswax to name a few.  However, here at Dallas Soy Candles we believe in using only soy wax for our candles.  We will never use paraffin wax in our products.

Also, we are a firm believer in "Made in the USA."  Our soy is grown domestically and made here in the USA.  Additionally, we make every effort to ensure our ingredients are made in the USA, too.  With the state of the economy, we believe in supporting our domestic partners and together we can all make a difference someday in improving our economy.

We have grown over the last couple of years and still growing. In November 2010, Dallas Soy Candles had a feature article written in "The Independent Retailer." The article focused on how we produce candles with a more modern day look.

In the summer of 2011, we were added to the local schools in the DFW area as an approved fundraising vendor.
LISD - Lewisville Independent School District,
Carrollton-Farmers Branch School District, H.E.B. - Hurst, Euless, Bedford School District, and Plano ISD.

Then Dallas Soy Candles was invited to have their soy candles included in the official gift bags at the News and Documentary Emmy ®Awards in New York City on 9/26/2011.  Our soy candles were handed out to the awards night attendees.

Where are we now in our growth?  We are adding more soy products to our line.  Most recently, we added soy votives to our line of soy products.  Our votives have been a "hot" item.  While we tested soy candle pillars, soy wax is too soft alone to make soy pillar candles.  If you find a candle out there claiming to be a soy pillar, it is a "soy blend."

Just Released!!!!  Our soy massage candles are here!!!  We tested and tested and believe our final product provides exactly what we designed it to do.  We are using a number of anti-aging oils such as Argan oil and
Hempseed oil  which when combined together your skin stays moist and smooth all day after applying.  Also, a nice added touch is the skin-safe fragrance will linger on your skin for hours after the massage.
I tested a number of these massage candles on my skin because I have sensitive skin and am allergic to some ingredients found in face creams and suntan lotions.

Where do we go from here, the sky is the limit!  While our little company has grown leaps and bounds, we are not finished growing yet.  Nothing is too small or large to tackle.  We take on the task and figure it out.  We pride ourselves here at Dallas Soy Candles in providing the best soy product possible and by offering great customer service.  Regularly, we inquire feedback from our customers so we know what we are doing well on and how can we improve as well.
